PARK CITY, Utah—The Utah Utes all but wrapped up their home invitational Tuesday taking a commanding lead their Nordic teams provided and extended the lead to 76 points over the competition with just two races remaining.
The Utes have now scored 510 points through six races as just slalom races remain Wednesday to close out the meet. But while 76 points separate Utah and second place UAA (510-434), behind the Seawolves are three other teams that will fight for second place on Hump Day.
The same two skiers won the individual races as did Sunday with Denver’s Katie Hensien and Montana State’s Riley Seger taking home gold in the two GS races. The Utes won the women’s race with 82 points but both MSU and Westminster were within four points, both scoring 78.
The Bobcats won the men’s race with 84 points while Colorado (82), Utah (79) and Denver (72) all had solid performances as well.
The meet will conclude Tuesday with slalom races. That will essentially bring about the halfway point of the season with six races complete for each gender. After a three-and-a-half week layoff, teams will hit the snow again in mid-February for the Denver Invitational. Nordic teams have another week off before heading to Alaska for two meets worth of races in Fairbanks.
