COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo.—Colorado Mountain College's Ainsley Proffit made history, winning the first race at the RMISA level for the school in history, picking up the win in the women's GS RMISA qualifier race here Thursday.
Proffit won the race by just one-hundredth of a second, the closest race of the season in any of the four disciplines skied by the RMISA. She was joined on the podium by Westminster's Julia Toiviainen and Utah's Kaja Norbye.
On the men's side, Utah's Joachim Lien won the race, also by a narrow margin of three-hundredths of a second over Denver's Tobias Koger. Westminster's Mikkel Solbakken rounded out the podium.
Teams will remain at Copper Mountain for one more day to take part in another GS race, this one part of the Denver Invitational.
