UU's Bie, Jordheim Win Classic Races at Utah Invitational

MIDWAY, Utah—Utah's Maximilian Bie and Guro Jordheim swept the classic races on their home course in the Utah Invitational on Saturday.

The alpine portion of the Utah Invitational will be held at Park City Mountain from Feb. 22-23 with an RMISA qualifier race on Feb. 24.

  • Utah's Maximilian Bie earned his first career win, rallying after breaking a pole partway through the race.
  • Alaska Anchorage's Sigurd Roenning earned his fifth podium of the season, with is tied for the league lead.
  • Alaska Anchorage's Espen Persen earned his second podium of the season.
  • Alaska Anchorage's JC Schoonmaker earned his first top five finish of the season.
  • Utah's Luke Jager has five top-five finishes, which is tied for second in the league with Roenning.

  • Utah's women scored a race-high 101 points, reaching the century mark for the fifth time in six scored races this season.
  • Utah's Guro Jordheim won her league-leading fifth race of the season. She has finished on the podium in seven of eight races, which also leads the league.
  • Colorado's Anna-Maria Dietze finished on the podium for the first time in her career.
  • Utah's Julia Richter had her best finish of the season.
  • Denver's Evaliina Pippo earned her fourth-straight top-five finish.
  • Denver's Vera Norli earned a career-best finish of fifth.
