DU's Piippo, UAA's Roenning Win Freestyle Races at Utah Invite

MIDWAY, Utah—Denver's Eveliina Piippo and Alaska Anchorage's Sigurd Roenning won the freestyle races on the first day of the Utah Invitational.

  • Denver's Eveliina Pippo won her second-straight race, she has three podium finishes in her three races this year.
  • Utah's Guro Jordheim earned her sixth podium finish of the season and remains the only skier to finish in the top five in every race this year.
  • Utah's Mariah Bredal finished third for her third podium of the season.
  • Colorado's Anna-Maria Dietze earned her first career top-five finish
  • Alaska Anchorage's Natalie Hynes finished in the top five for the first time in her career.

  • Utah's Samuel Hendry earned his third collegiate podium in as many races.
  • Utah's Luke Jager has finished in the top five four times in his five races this year.
  • Alaska Anchorage's Espen Persen earned his third top-five finish of the season.
