Denver Opens In Lead At Montana State Invitational

MIDWAY, Utah—The RMISA Nordic teams got underway on Saturday, Jan. 7, with the Utah Invitational at Soldier Hollow Resort in Midway, Utah.

The Nordic races are being held in conjunction with the U.S. Cross Country National Championships.

The Utah Invitational continues for the Nordic teams on Sunday, Jan. 8, at Soldier Hollow, with the men’s sprint classic beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by the women at 11:00 a.m. Click here for live results. Utah Invite Men’s 15-km freestyle

Denver’s Mortiz Madlener earned his fifth career win as the first RMISA skier to finish at the U.S. Cross Country Championships while finishing an impressive third overall. Utah’s Kevin Bolger in second and New Mexico’s Arnaud Guyon in third both picked up their first career podium finishes. Denver skiers Lars Hannah and Eivind Kvalle finished fourth and fifth to help the Pioneers lead the race with 100 points.

Utah Invite Women’s 10-km freestyle

Colorado’s Petra Hyncicova won her first career race as the leading RMISA skier at the U.S. Cross Country Championships. She finished ninth overall in the race. A pair of newcomers, New Mexico’s Krista Niiranen (2nd) and Utah’s Guro Jordheim (3rd) were also on the podium. Colorado took the sixth and eighth spots in the race to earn 90 points for the Buffs.
