DENVER—Montana State University's Tilde Baangman and the University of Denver's Andreas Kirkeng have been named the RMISA Skiers of the Meet for the Nordic portion of the Westminster Invitational, the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association announced today.
Baangman posted podium finishes in both races at the Westminster Invite, which was being held in the conjunction with the U.S. Cross Country National Championships at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. The sophomore won the women's 10K classical on Tuesday, Jan. 2 before placing second in freestyle sprints on Thursday. This is the Oestersund, Sweden, native's first RMISA Skier of the Meet award of her career. Kirkeng recorded a pair of top-five results, as he also picked up a win in the men's 10K classic before following it up with a fifth place finish in Thursday's freestyle sprints. The junior from Lier, Norway, was previously named the Skier of the Meet at the 2023 Denver Invitational. Skiers can only earn the award once per season and the winner is determined by the placement in the two races that comprise a meet. The Westminster Invitational concludes with alpine races on Jan. 17 and 19. Next up for the skiers is the Utah Invitational, with Nordic set for Jan. 12-13 and alpine on Jan. 18 and 20.
