Utah's Lien, Denver's Smart Win RMISA Slalom Qualifiers

PARK CITY, Utah—Utah's Joachim Lien and Denver's Amelia Smart won a pair of RMISA slalom qualifier races in Utah on Monday. Both won the slalom for the second-straight day, also winning the race at the Utah Invitational.

RMISA qualifier races do not count towards any team scoring but are used as an extra opportunity for skiers to earn qualification points for the NCAA Championships.

Women's Slalom

  • Denver's Amelia Smart has three slalom wins this season for her seventh career victory.
  • Denver's Andrea Komsic has two podium finishes this season.
  • Utah's Eirin Engeset is tied for second in the league with four podium finishes this season.
  • Denver's Eleri Smart earned her second podium finish of the year.
  • Utah's Katie Vesterstein has two top-five finishes this season.

  • Utah's Joachim Lien has won four of the five slalom races this year. He swept the weekend, also winning the slalom and GS races of the Utah Invite. Lien also has a league-high six podium finishes this season.
  • Colorado's Filip Forejtek earned his second podium finish of the year.
  • Denver's Colby Lane has two podium finishes on the season.
  • Denver's Simon Fournier earned his first top-five finish of the season. He was competing in his first collegiate weekend after competing in World Cup and Nor-Ams.
  • Montana State's Aage Soleheim has finished in the top five seven times this season, which is tied for the league lead with Utah's Lien.
