Denver’s Seymour Wins Men’s Giant Slalom at Utah Invitational

HUNTSVILLE, Utah—Denver’s Jett Seymour earned his first career victory in the men’s giant slalom at the Utah Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Denver leads the team standings with 176 points followed by Montana State (145.5) and the host Utes in third (138.5). Colorado and New Mexico are tied for fourth (116) with Westminster College in sixth (113), Alaska Anchorage seventh (92) and Colorado Mountain College eighth (25).

The alpine portion of the Utah Invitational completes on Saturday, Jan. 13, with the men’s and women’s slalom races. The finish will be at the main base lodge at Snowbasin with live results at www.ussalivetiming.com. In addition, the Nordic team gets underway tomorrow with the women’s 5-km and men’s 10-km freestyle races in West Yellowstone, Mont., with live results at www.sportstats.us.

  • Denver freshman Jett Seymour earned his first career victory. He is the third skier this season to win a race, joining Montana State’s Garett Driller and Colorado’s Ola Johansen.
  • Montana State’s Addison Dvoracek and Colorado’s Ola Johansen each earned their third podium finish of the season. Johansen is the only skier in the top 10 in all four races this year.
  • New Mexico’s Vegard Busengdal earned his third top-five finish of the season.
  • Utah’s Linus Walch earned his first career top five finish.
