DENVER— The RMISA announced its alpine discipline MVPs Friday, recognizing the top performers across giant slalom and slalom during the 2026 season. Colorado’s Louison Accambray and Filip Wahlqvist earned the giant slalom honors, while Utah’s Johs Herland and Denver’s Sara Rask captured the slalom MVP awards.
Herland delivered one of the most dominant slalom seasons in recent RMISA history, winning five of the six races on the schedule. Despite one DNF, the Utah standout totaled 200 points and secured the Men’s Slalom MVP by 35 points. His five victories highlighted a season in which he consistently controlled the discipline standings from start to finish.
On the women’s side, the slalom MVP race came down to the final run of the regular season. Rask finished the year with results of 1-1-1-3-4-DNF to edge Accambray by just three points, 185-182, in the final standings. Accambray entered the final race with a 37-point lead, but a first-run DNF left the door open for Rask. Needing a victory to claim the title, Rask delivered in the season finale. A second-place finish would have resulted in a tie, while any finish of third or lower would have secured the MVP for Accambray.
In giant slalom, Colorado swept both discipline honors. Wahlqvist captured the Men’s GS MVP after finishing all seven races in the discipline with results of 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 5th, 2nd and 2nd. The performance included his first two career GS victories and gave him a 236-9 record against the field across those races.
Accambray repeated as Women’s GS MVP following one of the most dominant alpine seasons in Colorado history. She finished all seven giant slalom races with results of 1st, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 2nd and 1st, collecting five victories and two runner-up finishes. Across those races she compiled a 200-2 record against the field.
Colorado’s two GS honors gave the Buffaloes half of the RMISA’s alpine discipline MVP awards this season, while Utah and Denver each claimed one slalom title.
