Utah's Herland, Denver's Rask Continue Dominant Seasons In Qualifier Races

Thursday, February 26, 2026 • by Curtis Snyder

BOZEMAN, Mont.— The RMISA alpine slate wrapped up its regular-season qualifying schedule Thursday with a rescheduled slalom at Bridger Bowl, the final tune-up before the postseason begins Friday. The race was contested without team scoring, serving instead as an extra NCAA-qualification opportunity ahead of the RMISA Championships.

Denver’s Sara Rask led the way in the women’s race, posting the fastest first run and holding on for the win in 1:42.19. The victory marked the 20th career win for Rask, as the Pioneers also placed a second skier on the podium with Mia Hunt finishing second. Montana State’s Tea Kiesel rounded out the top three.

Utah’s Johs Herland continued his season-long dominance in slalom on the men’s side, winning in 1:35.26. Herland’s result gave him his fourth slalom victory of the year, and he has now posted those four wins and one second-place finish in six slalom starts this season. Colorado’s Filip Wahlqvist finished second, while Westminster’s Benjamin Angerer took third.

The league’s focus now turns immediately to the RMISA Championships, where NCAA qualification will be finalized through championship scoring across alpine and Nordic events.

Up next: The 2026 RMISA Championships open Friday with slalom at Bridger Bowl and 7.5K classic Nordic races at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah — the first time this season both disciplines will compete on the same day. The championships conclude Saturday.
