Colorado Sweeps GS Races To Maintain Lead In Utah Invitational

PARK CITY, Utah— Colorado swept Sunday’s giant slalom races at Utah Olympic Park as part of the Utah Invitational, winning both the women’s and men’s events and pacing the field in team scoring. Utah finished second in both races, while Denver placed third in both events as the alpine portion of the meet continued in Park City.

In the women’s giant slalom, Colorado’s Louison Accambray earned the victory in 1:59.78, followed by Utah’s Melanie Dahlberg (2:00.34) in second and Nevada’s Erica Lynch (2:00.41) in third. Colorado totaled 84 points in the women’s race, edging Utah (80) and Denver (76) in a close team battle.

The men’s giant slalom saw another Colorado win as Justin Bigatel posted a 1:57.43 to take the title. Utah’s Johs Herland was second in 1:57.49, and Colorado’s Feb Allasina finished third in 1:58.05. Colorado scored 103 points on the men’s side, ahead of Utah (81) and Denver (76).

Through six of eight events at the Utah Invitational, Colorado leads the meet standings with 556 points, followed by Utah with 504 and Denver with 405. The meet continues Monday with an additional giant slalom race (RMISA Qualifier), before concluding Tuesday with slalom races.
