Saturday, February 7, 2026 • by Curtis Snyder

FRISCO, Colo.— Colorado swept the Nordic portion's opening day of the Denver Invitational on Saturday at the Frisco Nordic Center, winning both 10K classic races and taking 1-2 finishes on both the women's and men's sides.

In the women's race, Tilde Baangman and Astri Lunde separated from the field early and finished first and second, crossing the line just 2.3 seconds apart. Denver's Synne Bollingmo placed third, more than a minute behind the lead duo, as Colorado claimed the race victory with a 97-point team score.

The men's race followed a similar script, with Storm Pedersen and Johannes Flaaten going 1-2 for Colorado. Alaska Anchorage's Corbin Carpenter closed to finish third, just two seconds behind Flaaten, as Colorado scored 91 points to win the men's race.

Colorado's 188 points across the two races were 30 ahead of second-place Denver (158). With its alpine advantage from January, Colorado extended its overall lead in the Denver Invitational to 67 points through six events, leading Denver 541-474, with Utah third at 394.5.

RMISA Nordic action continues Sunday with 7.5K freestyle interval start races to close out the Denver Invitational.
