Utah's Herland and Denver's Rask Get Slalom Wins, CU Leads Own Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Colo.— Denver and Colorado split the wins on Tuesday at the Colorado Spencer James Nelson Memorial Invitational, with Denver controlling the women's slalom and Colorado posting a dominant men's result to maintain a slim lead in the team standings.

Denver led the women's race from the front, as Sara Rask and Mia Hunt went 1-2 to pace a 104-point team score. Colorado's Louison Accambray finished third to join the podium, while Denver placed four skiers in the top seven to secure the team win in the event.

Utah's Johs Herland earned his second straight slalom victory on the men's side, but Colorado answered with a deep performance behind him. The Buffaloes went 2-3-4 with Stanley Buzek, Filip Wahlqvist and Feb Allasina, adding a top-10 finish from Justin Bigatel to total 102 points in the race.

Through the opening day of the Colorado Spencer James Nelson Memorial Invitational, Colorado leads the team standings with 180 points, seven ahead of Denver (173), with Utah in third at 147.
