LAKE PLACID, N.Y.— Utah swept the opening day of the RMISA Invitational at the 2026 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships, winning both the men's and women's 10K classic races Sunday at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.
On the women's side, Utah's Erica Laven claimed the individual victory, leading the Utes to a team score of 100 points. Colorado finished second with 85 points, followed by Alaska Anchorage with 70.
Colorado's Tilde Baangman was the top RMISA skier at the 5K split and finished second overall, while Utah placed three skiers in the top five to secure the team win.
In the men's race, Utah's Zachary Jayne and Mons Melbye paced the Utes to the race win while Alaska Anchorage's Corbin Carpenter and Erling Bjoernstad went three-four to get the Seawolves second place in the opening men's event of the RMISA season.
