RMISA Season Awards Handed Out

Saturday, March 5, 2022 • by Curtis Snyder, RMISA

BOULDER, Colo.—The final regular season awards were handed out by the RMISA Monday.

The RMISA awards regular season champions, eight MVPs, recognizes the Regional Individual Champions and honors the All-RMISA team.

Utah won the regular season championship and swept all categories except for Men's Nordic, which Denver won. Utah won the Overall award, the men's honor, the women's honor, the overall alpine award, the overall Nordic Award and the other three team awards, women's alpine, men's alpine and women's Nordic.

RMISA MVP's were also led by Utah, which took home three of the eight honors with Denver taking home two, Montana State two and Colorado one. The Bobcats swept the women's slalom honors with Nellie Talbot winning the GS MVP and Kristiane Bekkestad the slalom MVP. The men's GS MVP was Colorado's Filip Forejtek while Utah's Wilhelm Normannseth won the slalom MVP. On the Nordic side, Utah's Sydney Palmer-Leger swetp the women's classic and freestyle awards and Denver swept the men's awards with Andreas Kirkeng winning the classic MVP and Bernhard Flaschberger winning the freestyle honor.

Those seven were also named All-RMISA. The All-RMISA team consists of at least five first and second team members and new in 2022, an honorable mention selection. The first and second team is based on the final NCAA Qualification list with the first five (or six if there's a tie between slalom and GS ranking or a tie on the overall Nordic list) on the first team and next five or six on the second team.
