Boee, McCabe Named RMISA Skiers of the Meet

Thursday, January 21, 2021 • by Curtis Snyder, RMISA

BOULDER—Colorado's Magnus Boee and Utah's Novie McCabe were named the RMISA Skiers of the Meet for the RMISA Invitational at Utah earlier in the week.

McCabe, new to college skiing, got her career off to an impressive beginning by finishing first in the women's 5K freestyle race and third in the women's 15K classic race at Soldier Hollow. She narrowly beat out teammate Sydney Palmer-Leger for the award, as they flipped spots with Palmer-Leger winning the classic race and finishing third in the freestyle.

Boee, like McCabe, won the men's 10K freestyle race before finishing fourth in the 20K classic race the following day.

Winners are determined by adding the NCAA Qualification points together, which is based on finishing placement. In the case of a tie, like with McCabe and Palmer-Leger, the combined times of the two races will be taken into account. McCabe won the freestyle race by 24.4 seconds and had a 26.3 advantage over Palmer-Leger, who in turn won the classic race by 7.8 and had an 17.3 second advantage over McCabe.

Nordic teams continue action Friday at the DU Invitational in Minturn, with 7.5K freestyle races on tap, followed by a 7.5/10K classic race on Saturday.
